According to the Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center, nearly 61% of Americans are expected to not have paid any federal income tax for the 2020 calendar year. This number is up from an average of 44% over the past decade due to government restrictions for Corona.

Aside from the most radical progressives and socialists, it would be hard to argue against the injustice of a system in which only 39% of people pay the taxes. Not only that, but the top 20% of people paid 78% of the 2020 tax while the top 1% paid 28%. Given these numbers, it is very amusing to hear Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, and other lefties railing that “the rich should pay their fair share”. How much is their “fair share”? 100% instead of 78%?

The question itself reveals the premise of these lefties.

As for the right, there are two lines of thought. One, as championed by Ron Paul and other libertarians, is that there should be no income tax and that 0% of people should be paying tax. The other, held by the likes of Mitt Romney, is that 100% of people should be paying income tax–in the name of equality.

The real question is whether taxes are just and moral in the first place. The fake right certainly accepts the premise that taxes are a necessary evil (if they even go that far) and are the “price we pay” for society. However, more and more are coming to realize that “taxation is theft” and has no place in a civilized society.
